Qual8 Users Guide
From a new account to your first measured group.
Qual8 works best set up in order: your account, your rifle, your ammunition, then your first Range Session. This guide walks each step with the real screens, and says why each one comes when it does.
Every plan starts the same way
Six steps to your first group
- Make your account Your email comes first: the link Qual8 emails you is what signs you in.
- Pick your screen name No other screen opens until you have one.
- Set your shooter profile MOA or MIL. It sets how group sizes and goals read.
- Add your rifle Every session you shoot, every group and every box of ammunition is saved to a rifle.
- Add your ammunition A session will not start until you pick what you are shooting.
- Shoot your first Range Session Photograph the target and Qual8 measures the group.
Three plans, three guides
Pick the guide for your plan
Each guide starts where the one before it ends. Your plan is the word at the top of the screen once you are set up.

Have these ready
Qual8 emails you a link to confirm the account. Open it on the phone or computer you will use Qual8 on.
Know which one your scope's turret dials in. Qual8 asks before it shows you a single number.
The three things the New Rifle screen must have. The barrel's round count and rounds since cleaning are worth having too.
Maker, product and the lot number printed on the box.
Sigma8 targets, printed at actual size on matte paper. Your own paper target or a steel plate also work.
Qual8 measures every group without one. With one, you also get velocity results.
For a Factory Ammo Comparison: 6 to 12 rounds from each box, plus a few rounds to foul the bore.
Calipers, powder scale, your components with their lot numbers, and the published minimum and maximum charge for your load.
