A qualifier is a set test with set rules. Pass it and the rifle earns a badge, backed by the target that earned it. Hunt Qualified is free on every plan. Load Qualified and Match Qualified come with Sharpshooter and Handloader.
Marksman: HQSharpshooter: all fourHandloader: all four
The same four steps for every qualifier
Choose it, set it up, shoot it, score it
1
Choose the qualifier
Press SHOOT, then BEGIN QUALIFIER.
Press the row you want: LQ100, LQ500, HQ or MQ-600. On Marksman, HQ reads INCLUDED and the other three read REQUIRES SHARPSHOOTER. On Sharpshooter and Handloader all four are yours.
Press CONTINUE.
Hunt Qualified only: the rules open first, headed "How to Shoot a Hunt Qualifier". Read them, then press START A HUNT QUALIFIER at the bottom.
Barrel cleaned? * and the rounds fired before the first shot.
The distance, and the position and support you will shoot from, where the qualifier asks.
Hunt Qualified also asks for the Physical target *: Sigma8 HQ, Steel, or My Own Target.
Press the start button: START HQ, START LQ100, and so on.
Why you get the setup right before you press Start
A qualifier proves one rifle with one ammunition at one distance. The rifle, the ammunition and the distance are locked when you press Start. To change one, discard the open attempt on the setup screen and start again.
Start button still dark? It lights when every starred answer on the screen is in.
The setup screen for LQ100.
3
Shoot it and photograph the target
Shoot the course of fire for your qualifier. It is listed below.
Photograph the target and check the holes. Every shot you fired must carry a mark. Press All shot locations are correct.
Press Review evidence summary, tick the box that says you reviewed every mark, then press Confirm final target review.
Save or share picture saves a picture of the result, earned or not.
Not earned: the attempt is recorded as not earned. Shoot it again whenever you like.

Hunt Qualified (HQ)
Proves you can shoot the rifle from a field position. Free on every plan, on every rifle.
Shots
Five single shots
From one field position and support that you name on the setup screen.
Distance
Your choice
Whole yards, from 100 up. The result names the level in 50-yard steps up to 500: 437 yards earns HQ400. The Dashboard and the rifle show the exact distance you shot.
Target
Three choices
Sigma8 HQ, Steel, or My Own Target. One photo, after the fifth shot.
Pass
Five of five
All five inside the Deer zone earns Deer and Elk. All five inside the larger Elk zone earns Elk. One miss and it is not earned.
MarksmanSharpshooterHandloader
Load Qualified (LQ100 and LQ500)
Proves the rifle and one ammunition together, from the bench. Factory ammunition and handloads are held to the same standard.
LQ100
Exactly 100 yards
From a bench. Choose 1 group of 10, 3 groups of 3, or 3 groups of 4. One Sigma8 3X sheet, one photo.
LQ500
490 to 510 yards
From a bench. The Sigma8 500 MOA sheet, with a new target and a photo for each group.
Pass
Your rifle's own goal
A group has to meet the accuracy goal set on the rifle, and the full set of groups has to repeat it. The goal is read when you press Start. Velocity never decides it.
Before you start
Check the goal
Every rifle has an accuracy goal: Intended Use fills it in, and an empty one is saved as 0.999 MOA. It is your pass line, so check it on the rifle before you start: Add your rifle.
MarksmanSharpshooterHandloader
Match Qualified (MQ-600)
Repeatable precision at 600 yards, scored across three groups. It is a Qual8 standard, not a sanctioned match.
Distance
Exactly 600 yards
The setup screen locks it.
Shots
3 groups of 5
15 rounds, with a new target and a photo for each group. The Sigma8 300/600 MOA sheet.
Position
You declare it
The setup screen asks for "Match position and support". It reads: "Declare one non-bench position and support representative of how you shoot this match."
Pass
Three levels
Qualified at 0.50 MOA average with no group over 0.65. Competitive at 0.40 with none over 0.52. Elite at 0.25 with none over 0.325.
Which one first?
None is required before another. One order makes sense.
If your plan has Load Qualified, shoot LQ100 before Hunt Qualified. When the rifle and ammunition are already proven from the bench, a miss in the field tells you about your position, not your ammunition.
